THE II INTERNATIONAL SIBELIUS SINGING COMPETITION 2011
The II International Sibelius Singing Competition was held from October 23 to October 29, 2011 and was open to citizens of Finland, the other Nordic countries and Estonia. Applications were received from 74 singers, of whom 59 were from Finland, 11 from other Nordic countries and 4 from Estonia.
The Jury consisted of Tom Krause, baritone (Finland), Olaf Bär, baritone (Germany), Inessa Galante, soprano (Latvia), MariAnne Häggander, soprano (Sweden) and Päivi Nisula, soprano (Finland)
The finals were accompanied by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by its Chief Conductor John Storgårds.

III prize €2 500 Josefine Andersson, mezzo-soprano
IV prize €1 000 Mia Heikkinen, soprano
V prize €1 000 Terttu Iso-Oja, soprano
VI prize €1 000 Satu Kristina Jaatinen, soprano
The special prize of the Sibelius €1 000 for the best performance of a contemporary work Josefine Andersson, mezzo-soprano
Special prize of the City of Järvenpää €1 000 for the best performance of a Sibelius song Annami Hylkilä, soprano
The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra held a competition gala concert at the Helsinki Music Centre on November 1, 2011 at which Hedvig Paulig and Annami Hylkilä performed.
